When I was born the Doctors told my mommy that I would probably not make it through the first 48 hours, but if I did I would never make it to my first birthday. Over the last year and a half I have given my mommy and daddy some realy big scares. Last November I cought RSV and had to be placed into a coma on a Vent for 28 days because my lungs kept colapsing. Im a fighter though. Im doing really good right now. I proved those doctors wrong! We moved from Dallas to Florida in February of 2005 so that I could be treated by the Tampa Shriners. Every 8 weeks they give me a 3 day IV treatment that cost about $850 each. This treatment is called Pmaidronate (Pam). Pam helps my bones to get stronger. As I get stronger it helps to drcrease the fracture rate, it makes me more mobile, and it helps to controle the pain in my bones. It helps me alot. In Texas where I was born, they told my Mommy and Daddy that I was not going to make it and the Pam was a very expensive treatment so I was not a canidate. My mommy would not settle for that answer and she looked for someone who would help me. She found the Shriners. They said my treatments would be free if I came to them. My mommy was so happy that she had found someone who gave her hope. My Daddy packed up everything the things in out house and when His truck was full he loaded me, my 2 brothers and my sister up in my mommys van and we left for Florida leaving everything else behind. It was a long drive! |
